Dog training for real-life success, built on positive reinforcement

Science-based, force-free training that helps dogs and their people work together with calm, clarity, and trust

Dog training is more than teaching commands—it’s about building understanding between dogs and the people who love them.

At Kelley’s K‑9 Camp, training is grounded in decades of experience using positive reinforcement, humane methods, and clear, practical communication. We focus on real-life skills that help dogs feel safe, think more clearly, and respond reliably in everyday situations—not just in the training room.

Our goal is to support both sides of the relationship: dogs and their families, learning how to understand one another better.

Janet’s training philosophy and experience

Janet brings years of hands-on experience working with puppies, adolescents, and adult dogs using science-based, force-free methods. Her approach is informed by the Humane Hierarchy, which means choosing the least intrusive, most effective options and respecting each dog’s emotional wellbeing as part of training—not separate from it.

Training is not something we do “to” dogs—it’s something we build with them and with you.

What training can help with

Leash pulling and uncomfortable walks

Overexcitement, impulsivity, and difficulty settling

Trouble focusing around distractions at home or in public

Everyday manners with family, visitors, and other dogs

Recall and responsiveness when it really matters

Building calmer, more thoughtful behavior in daily routines

Whether you’re starting from the beginning or feeling stuck with ongoing challenges, training should help you move forward in ways that feel fair to your dog and doable for you.

How we teach

All training is grounded in positive reinforcement, clear communication, and respect for your dog’s emotional state. We choose methods that help your dog learn without fear, pain, or intimidation.

Dogs learn best when they feel safe, understood, and supported—and people do too.

Training for everyday life

Skills are taught with the real world in mind. We’re not chasing perfect performance in a vacuum; we’re building behavior your dog can use in the situations that matter to you.

The goal is not just “obedience”—it’s understanding, reliability, and a working relationship you can trust.

What training with us looks like

Meaningful training takes time, practice, and clarity. We want you to know what to expect so the process feels honest and manageable.

What we do and do not promise

We do promise:

We do not promise:

We’re here to help you and your dog move forward in a way that feels right, not rushed.
